The HEMA scene in the midwest continues to grow with new and recurring events every year! While we won’t list every event we are aware of, we will list a few events in which Centerline members will be participating this year. Each event will have a brief summary of the event. Spar-BQ 6!
July 29th 2023
Every year, HEMA instructors from around the Midwest gather in Michigan for a day of Classes and Camaraderie. This year, Ann Arbor Sword Club has been chosen to host the 6th Spar-BQ! The event will be at Island Park Pavilion B 1420 Island Dr. Ann Arbor on July 29th 2023.
October 14th - 15th 2023
The Four Openings Rapier Tournament (FORT) is held annually by the Lansing Longsword guild. This event will comprise three separate events, each emphasizing a specific aspect of the rapier’s capabilities differently. Get your tickets here!
The events are:
- The Fechtschule – based on 16th century fencing conventions, the Fechtschule limits the target area to the head and allows only cuts to score
- The Sword Alone – The entire body, from the knees up, will be a target for thrusts and cuts
- The Sword and Dagger – A difficult combination to master and to defeat, the Sword and Dagger event will be the pinnacle of this event
